3. Big Ben
There may not be a more famous clock on the face of the earth than Big Ben. Another British landmark that is recognised the world over, Big Ben actually gets its name from the 13-ton bell that’s housed in the clock tower and not from the clock itself. The bell currently on duty was created in 1858 after its larger predecessor cracked in 1856. The name Big Ben comes from the fellow who first ordered the bell, whose name was Sir Benjamin Hall.
