7 Jobs That Won’t Exist In 20 Years

6. Telephone operator

People didn’t use Google to get a number for someone back in the analogue era of telecommunications. They used to call a specific number for directory assistance which connected them to an operator. Connecting long distance calls and providing services for disabled callers are also among the jobs of operators. The number of the telephone operators, however, has been falling. There were 40,000 telephone operators working for AT&T alone in 1984. In 2014, the total number of operators had dropped to 13,100, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This number is expected to continue falling.
