Top 8 Best Gaming Headsets Under 100 Notes

Afterglow Universal Wireless Headset

Is it possible to get a quality gaming headset for under $100?

Everyone has unique tastes in what they like in a headset. Some people prefer comfort; others prefer price, sound quality or mic quality. Whatever you prefer – this list has got you covered.

Here are the best gaming headsets under $100:

8. Sound BlasterX H5 Tournament Edition Gaming Headset

Best gaming headsets under 100

Buy this headset if you prioritize comfort, and don’t mind sacrificing a little microphone quality.

Comfort: 9/10

Comfort should be the number one priority for gamers. You should be able to wear your gaming headphones for several hours without feeling the need to remove them.

The Sound BlasterX H5 excels at comfort and allows hours of playtime without any discomfort. The clamping force is light on the ears, whilst the ear-cups are made from soft memory foam which fully encloses the ears.

For this price, there is no other gaming headset which will beat the Sound BlasterX in terms of comfort.

Sound Quality: 7/10

The H5 also does quite well in terms of sound quality. Apart from feeling a little ‘light-bassed,’ the sound quality is clear and balanced. The headset can be used for both listening to music and playing games.

Mic Quality: 5/10

The H5 does include a ‘mute microphone’ button and features a detachable mic, but the sound quality is pretty average.

Overall, this headset offers amazing value for its price and is the most comfortable headset you’ll buy for under $100.

7. Razer Blackshark

Razer Blackshark gaming headset

Buy this headset if you prioritize comfort, want a better microphone than the Sound BlasterX H5 and don’t mind the poor design (which looks like a military aviation headset).

Comfort: 8/10

Comfort is the biggest strength for the Blackshark. It has comfortable ear cushions and a clamp strength that isn’t too strong. Despite being mostly made of metal, the headphone still feels light and allows you to endure hours of gameplay without discomfort.

Sound Quality: 6.5/10

This headset performs okay in terms of sound quality. It provides decent resolution, a rich high sound, and a strong, enhanced bass – ideal for gamers.

Mic Quality: 7.5/10

The Razer Blackshark features a detachable mic and has a marked improvement in mic quality over the BlasterX H5.

Price:

Not too cheap, not too expensive. This headphone will last you a long time and is well worth the price.

6. Mionix Nash 20

Mionix Nash 20

Buy this headset if you’re looking for a headset with top-notch audio. This is one of my favorites and easily is one of the best gaming headsets for under 100.

Comfort: 7/10

The Mionix Nash 20 is quite comfortable and should allow for long periods of gaming with discomfort. The only downside is that it’s a bit heavier than the other headsets, but overall it is still light.

Sound Quality: 8.5/10

It’s rare to find a gaming headset under $100 that has good audio quality. The Mionix Nash 20 is one of those rare finds. It has superior sound quality to all the other headphones mentioned and offers a good balance of highs, mids, lows, and bass.

The tone is warm and it has a very good resolution for fine details. Unless you’re a composer, the sound quality is top notch and it’s very difficult to notice the small muddles. This is one of the few gaming headsets I’d use for general purposes outside gaming.

Mic Quality: 6/10

The sound clarity is decent, nothing spectacular, but it does the job.

Price:

Overall the Mionix Nash 20 is cheap and offers the best quality audio one can get for gaming headsets under $100.

5. HyperX Cloud II

HyperX Cloud II

Buy this headset if you’re looking for an all-rounder with good noise cancellation earcups.

Comfort: 7.5/10

The Cloud II fits snugly on your ears and even comes with extra faux leather earpads. It doesn’t feel too tight and works well on those with larger heads. The headband feels lightweight and is made from high quality, durable material.

Sound Quality: 7/10

For a gaming headset, it has pretty decent sound resolution and clarity. The closed cup also offers a surprisingly good amount of noise cancellation.

Mic Quality: 7/10

The mic is detachable and the voice quality is quite clear.

Price:

Overall, a solid choice for gamers looking for a headset that does well in every category. The noise-canceling earcups are an added bonus.

4. Steel Series Siberia 350

SteelSeries Siberia 350 Gaming Headset

Buy this headset if you’re looking for another all-rounder with great microphone quality.

Comfort: 7/10

The Siberia 350 offers great comfort for hours of gaming. The earcups don’t put too much pressure on the side of the head and the headband is ultra soft although it may feel a bit bulky.

Sound Quality: 7.5/10

This headset offers great resolution as well as a good balance of highs and lows. Much like the Nash 20, it has a warm and nice sounding tone to it.

Mic Quality: 8.5/10

The microphone quality is crystal clear and also offers in-line volume/mic control.

Price:

The Steel Series Siberia 350 is one of the best gaming headsets under 100 and performs well in every category.

3. Steel Series Siberia 200

Steel Series Siberia 200

Buy this if you want a cheap headset, with excellent sound/microphone quality (like the Siberia 350) and don’t mind sacrificing a little comfort.

Comfort: 6/10

This is a very good headset, but falls short in comfort compared to the Siberia 350 (most people can still wear this for hours without discomfort though). It has a self-adjusting headband which might be a little tight around your ears. If you have a large head, you might start to feel some discomfort from using this for extended periods. For those with smaller heads this shouldn’t be a problem.

Sound Quality: 7.5/10

This has excellent sound quality – matching that of the Siberia 350. Both headsets have great resolution and there isn’t much difference between them in terms of sound quality.

Mic Quality: 8.5/10

Once again, the microphone quality is excellent and there isn’t much difference between this and the 350.

Price:

Overall, the sound quality and microphone quality are nearly the same quality as the Siberia 350. The only difference is you’ll be sacrificing a bit of comfort for a cheaper price.

2. Corsair VOID Stereo Gaming Headset

Corsair VOID Stereo Gaming Headphone

Buy this if you’re looking for something cheap and comfortable, but don’t mind some poor sound quality.

Comfort: 8/10

One of the most comfortable gaming headsets you can get at this price. The ear padding is made from a slick material which feels extremely gentle on the ears. The downside is it might slip from your head more easily, but you can wear these for hours without any ear pain.

Sound Quality: 4/10

The sound quality is awful… but at $48, you get what you pay for.

It has poor resolution, unclear midtones and it even misses some minor details in music. If you just need a cheap headset to play online games like Dota 2, League of Legends and don’t mind some distorted sounds, then this gaming headphone is a decent pickup.

Mic Quality: 7/10

Surprisingly, the microphone quality is quite good and comes with an in-line mute switch.

Price:

Poor sound quality, but the price and comfort might make up for it.

1. Final Option: Buying a Headphone and Microphone (Best Value)

Gaming headsets are notably worse compared to normal headphones. This is because more money is spent on the design, advertisements and flashing lights rather than improving sound quality. That’s why we’d like to suggest an alternative:

  • Buying a normal headphone (which will definitely be better in terms of sound quality)
  • Buying a separate microphone which plugs into the headset.

Here’s the recommendation of many headphone experts:

Philips SHP9500 HiFi Precision Stereo Over-ear Headphones

Philips SHP9500 HiFi Precision Stereo Over-ear Headphones

Comfort: 9/10

The SHP9500 has exceptional comfort. It has extremely large earcups which cover your entire ear. The fabric is extremely gentle and feels soft like pillows. Both the earcups and the insides of the earcup are gently padded so you can wear this all day without feeling any discomfort.

Sound Quality: 8/10

Sound quality is also top notch for a headphone of this price – the resolution is very fine and detailed, and the bass is fairly decent, though sometimes the vocals feel (very slightly) drowned out.

The only downside is that it’s ‘open-back’ which means it might leak sound: others can hear you if they’re close to you in a quiet room.

Price:

Overall, a great quality headphone that’s also very low priced. Many of the reviews on Amazon say it should be worth a lot more than it is.

V-MODA BoomPro Gaming

V-Moda Mic

This microphone will attach to your headphone by replacing the normal cord it uses.

Mic Quality: 8.5/10

The sound is loud and crystal clear – and it might even shock your friends at how good the mic is. The only downside is some people have complained that it breaks after 6 months, though that might be from constant fiddling of the mic.

Price:

Not the cheapest, but the V-MODA is a one of a kind microphone without many alternatives, so the price is just.

Overall

These are the best gaming headset for under 100. For those who don’t mind open-back headphones, the final option is the best in terms of comfort and audio, but won’t look as cool as some of the other gaming headsets.
